A: Small Business with Big Results

Q: What's your business philosophy?
A: Simple and straight forward. Our clients come first. Without our clients, we don't have a business.

Q: Describe your office environment.
A: Very easy going and extremely professional. Oxymoron? Not here. We balance it pretty well.

Q: Describe how your team interact and work together.
A: Our team of professionals are just that; "professional". We're all goal oriented and multi-talented. No project "belongs" to a single worker. We're a team that helps each other, but more importantly, that helps our clients.

Q: What makes you different from other web design companies?
A: We don't say that we're "the best", or "most talented". But we do try harder than most are willing to. Our day doesn't end at 5:00PM, that's just considered the "late shift".

Q: How do you get the majority of your business?
A: A majority of our new clients come from referrals. We don't have a team of salesmen behind a row of desks making cold-calls while you're sitting down to dinner with your family. We feel that the client who comes to us, goes with us. And it's been that way since 1998.

Q: Describe how you manage projects from the initial client contact to completion and handover.
A: While we know the best steps to take on the technology side, and we have a vast knowledge of most industries there are, we still take the time to know our potential client. The way we look at things, is that every project is unique and custom. We get to know our clients needs and wants. No cookie cuts or short cuts. This helps us create the best solution from start to finish for our clients.

Q: What do you think is the most crucial element of creating a good client relationship?
A: Responsiveness, strong communication and openness.

Q: How do you manage demanding clients?
A: "The client is always right." While this is true, we want our clients to value our work and opinions. We do listen, but we make it known that it takes two to tango.

Q: If a client was trying to decide between a shortlist of web design companies, how would you recommend they go about selecting the right one for them?
A: Stay within your budget, but don't neglect your requirements. While you shouldn't spend money you don't have to, know that if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

Q: Where do you see your company in 10 years time?
A: The same place we saw ourselves 10 years ago, spending each day helping our clients grow and succeed in their competitive industries. It was a different world 10 years ago, as will will be 10 years from now. But our clients needs will still be just as important as they are today.

Q: Where do you see the web design industry in the future?
A: It all depends on devices and screens. But design is still design and it always changes. We plan to stay on top of what works best, as we have in past.

Q: What computers do you have use in your offices, PCs or Macs?
A: Both PC and Mac

Q: How was your company name chosen?
A: "SmartNet" was inherited by the owner. In 2005, we added "Solutions" to the name, because that's what we offer to our clients.

Q: If you were to give your clients one tip on how to get the most from their website what would it be?
A: As we tell our clients, put that domain name of yours on everything you market yourself with.
