Q: What's your name and position in the company?
A: Chris Boot. Owner, Designer, Developer, SEO
Q: Describe your company in 5 words.
A: Quality service, affordable price
Q: What's your business philosophy?
A: Provide a quality service where the client's interests are put first. The aim with every project I do is to produce a quality solution within a client's budget and see the client walk away happy. Once a solution is delivered my door is always open for any queries a client may have regarding how web solutions can help their business grow and prosper.
Q: Describe your office environment.
A: Only me here so should be relatively quiet but this is usually interrupted by music either from my i-pod or spotify.
Q: Describe how your team interact and work together.
A: Only me here so pretty good.
Q: What makes you different from other web design companies?
A: I can't speak for others but I know my own approach is to make the client feel they are central to the project. I try to involve them in developing solutions so they can feel they have ownership of it - it is their solution I am developing so what they think is the most important thing.
Q: How do you get the majority of your business?
A: Internet, word of mouth and talking to people.
Q: Describe how you manage projects from the initial client contact to completion and handover.
A: Discuss, Design, Develop, Setup hosting and domain and site is live. Discussions with client on-going throughout. Hassle free.
Q: What do you think is the most crucial element of creating a good client relationship?
A: Put the client's interests, namely their business, first. Make the effort to communicate in a language people understand - techy-talk isn't for everybody! Be straight and honest especially in the Web industry where there are many misconceptions and ambiguities. Usually producing a quality solution helps too!
Q: How do you manage demanding clients?
A: I understand it is their business they are looking out for and get on the same page as them. Every website I design and develop is an example of my work and there are not many more demanding than myself when doing a job properly. Demanding clients ask questions of you which is good.
Q: If a client was trying to decide between a shortlist of web design companies, how would you recommend they go about selecting the right one for them?
A: Visit their website, check their portfolio and make sure you like their work. When discussing prices make sure all costs are stated up-front and ask questions - you want to know about any additional costs that could arise but most importantly that no hidden costs will catch you out later. In the initial discussions do they make you feel your best interests are their primary concern? Remember this is the person or people responsible for conveying your business messages effectively.
Q: Where do you see your company in 10 years time?
A: Providing the same services but as part of a broader service incorporating business and marketing expertise to help businesses establish an effective online presence.
Q: Where do you see the web design industry in the future?
A: As a much broader term than just websites. Already with Social Media and Mobile Device usage a website is no longer the primary tool for a business to promote itself online. Web Design providers, if they haven't started already, will probably be providing a broader set of services that compliment the website.
Q: What computers do you have use in your offices, PCs or Macs?
A: PC
Q: How was your company name chosen?
A: Wanted something that stood out from the others.
Q: If you were to give your clients one tip on how to get the most from their website what would it be?
A: Understand what you are trying to achieve with your business website and what information it needs to convey. Read articles online. Ask questions of the Web Designer/Developer about how a website's presence can be improved
