Q: What's your name and position in the company?
A: Niraj Shah, Director
Q: Describe your company in 5 words.
A: Website and social application development
Q: What's your business philosophy?
A: We always listen to the client and give them the best solution to achieve their goal. Whether it's a website to take their company or brand online, or social applications to help increase their fan base and social presence. We work with the client every step of the way, and give our personal recommendations to give our service a personal touch.
Q: Describe your office environment.
A: We usually work in a quiet home office. However, we also have a Central London location just off The Strand, which is a lot more lively and vibrant.
Q: Describe how your team interact and work together.
A: It's just me and my wife at the moment so we're naturally close. We also have a friend that helps us out with excessive work loads.
Q: What makes you different from other web design companies?
A: We're a family company so you can expect to get friendly advise, great personal service and reasonable prices. We may not be able to offer all the services of larger companies out there but you can certainly expect a more personal touch.
Q: How do you get the majority of your business?
A: We have a few long-term contracts with clients that provide regular work, and partnerships with a handful of companies. We're trying out online advertising at the moment to expand our client base.
Q: Describe how you manage projects from the initial client contact to completion and handover.
A: We work with the client every step of the way. We start with understanding what the client wants to achieve and work from there.
Q: What do you think is the most crucial element of creating a good client relationship?
A: I think communication is key. If you understand the client's needs, then everything falls into place naturally. The client would have greater confidence is someone who understands their requirements and can trust that their demands are met.
Q: How do you manage demanding clients?
A: Honesty is key. If something will take longer than originally estimated or cost more, we tell the client. It's then their chose to proceed with the work or cut back to keep the quote the same (or at least similar).
Q: If a client was trying to decide between a shortlist of web design companies, how would you recommend they go about selecting the right one for them?
A: See which company understands the requirements and the overall goal. Cost is also a factor, but the cheapest company may not always understand what the client wants. Be sure to also discuss potential extra costs and recurring fees as this often comes as a surprise.
Q: Where do you see your company in 10 years time?
A: I hope we have a larger team and lots of exciting projects to work on. Ideally, we would have a great office with 10-20 members in the team, all working together to create great websites and applications.
Q: Where do you see the web design industry in the future?
A: There will always be a need for web design, so I don't see a decline in the industry. But there will always be shifts in the type of work required as new technology emerges. Mobile applications and responsive websites are popular at the moment, and will only increase further as mobile technology gets better.
Q: What computers do you have use in your offices, PCs or Macs?
A: Mac
Q: How was your company name chosen?
A: The company name is actually of Greek origin. NU is the Greek translation for the letter N (my initial) and ETA is H (for my wife's initial). I wanted to give the company name a personal touch, and it was just a coincidence that the Greek letters sounded nice.
Q: If you were to give your clients one tip on how to get the most from their website what would it be?
A: Keep it simple but informative. Include prices where possible and always have a contact form so a potential customer knows how to get in touch.
