Q: What's your name and position in the company?
A: Hi I'm David, I'm a web consultant and founder of Nuclear Internet

Q: Describe your company in 5 words.
A: Informal but very professional

Q: What's your business philosophy?
A: To identify problems, set clear objectives and build a solution that works.

Q: Describe your office environment.
A: We have a relaxed working environment, our commitment is to the quality of our work, not to stuffy office rules.

Q: Describe how your team interact and work together.
A: Our team is a team of 2, we work together in close quarters so we are constantly chatting and exchanging ideas, we tend to work on different sides of the same projects but are always giving each other feedback on how we thing we can improve things.

Q: What makes you different from other web design companies?
A: Everything we do is bespoke. Our websites are made to measure for our customers.

Q: How do you get the majority of your business?
A: Word of mouth and recommendations.

Q: Describe how you manage projects from the initial client contact to completion and handover.
A: Generally I interview the clients and make sure we have a clear grasp of how their business works and what their goals are. We'll then produce a written project proposal to meet their brief. Once accepted we start work. My colleague Rob works on the design concepts whilst I work on designing any database systems. We present the design concepts to the client, once approved we start turning our designs into web pages and build any back-end utilities that are required. Once we think we've finished we have a pre-launch period where the client gets to review the work and provide feedback. We make any necessary changes based on this feedback and once everyone is happy we publish and go live.

Q: What do you think is the most crucial element of creating a good client relationship?
A: Put simply, the most crucial element is trust. A customer has to feel confident you can deliver the job on time and on budget

Q: How do you manage demanding clients?
A: We create very clear project proposals so before we begin everyone knows exactly what they are signing up for. Some of these briefs are demanding, but we won't pitch for the job unless we have a solution. As such we don't really get to a point where we consider our clients demanding, they've agreed a project scope and we know we can deliver it.

Q: If a client was trying to decide between a shortlist of web design companies, how would you recommend they go about selecting the right one for them?
A: My advice is to always choose the web designer who is most interested in creating the best visitor experience. This will ultimately lead to a better return on investment.

Q: Where do you see your company in 10 years time?
A: Doing very much the same thing we are doing now, we enjoy working for SME's and start-ups. I guess the main difference in 10 years time will be the tools and technologies we use to get the job done.

Q: Where do you see the web design industry in the future?
A: Focussing much more on Mobile Apps and Devices.

Q: What computers do you have use in your offices, PCs or Macs?
A: PC

Q: How was your company name chosen?
A: I'm a huge fan of a band from Northern Ireland called Ash, they had an Album Nu-Clear Sounds, the so name Nuclear Internet is a shameless rip off.

Q: If you were to give your clients one tip on how to get the most from their website what would it be?
A: I try to tell people that owning a web site is a bit like a gym membership, you don't get the benefits unless you put the effort in. Too many customers are divorced from their websites expecting them to be things that just take care of themselves, if you want to get the most out of your web site you have to work it. And that means playing an active role in your on-line marketing campaigns.
