Q: What's your name and position in the company?
A: Travis VP of Northwest Media Collective, Inc
Q: Describe your company in 5 words.
A: Crazy talented team of designers
Q: What's your business philosophy?
A: Deliver a website that produces a solution without the hassle of dealing with a ridged design firm. We strive to be flexible and create something that is above our clients expectations
Q: Describe your office environment.
A: We are located in Vancouver wa. The office space is perfect for our group designers always coming in and out. The team we are built around come and go as we please. We have some great boardrooms and meeting spaces. The back area is used for our Wordpress workshops
Q: Describe how your team interact and work together.
A: Long time friends and new friends. Everyone one of us brings in over 10 years experience in our areas of expertise. Some of us web designers, some of us videographers, and we have some talented photographers. We spend our days working on clients projects, and discussing the different parts each of us bring to the table. Whats next is described best as half fiesta and half wrestling match. Our approach results in something above and beyond what our clients had expected.
Q: What makes you different from other web design companies?
A: Talent. We are a combination of companies. Many of us have all been small business owners. We have some of the best talent in the Pacific Northwest. With all our experience, we are able to come up with out of the box solutions for clients websites or even commercial advertising
Q: How do you get the majority of your business?
A: All our business right now is word of mouth
Q: Describe how you manage projects from the initial client contact to completion and handover.
A: We start by meeting with the client to try to learn the need they are trying to address with a new website or video. Then we enter the planning stage. This is where we start our magic, and come up with a solution we propose to the client. Then we build it. We will have a few rounds of client feed back, and then deliver them a final product.
Q: What do you think is the most crucial element of creating a good client relationship?
A: communication. We work with the client through the whole design process
Q: How do you manage demanding clients?
A: We work through the process to try to drill down to find the need the client was after
Q: If a client was trying to decide between a shortlist of web design companies, how would you recommend they go about selecting the right one for them?
A: Start with their portfolio. Check out their website. Are they making websites that you look at and go wow I want something like that? Then hit social media sites. Are they active? Then email them. How quick are they to respond? Ask them questions, you don't need a quote right away, just see if their answers come across in a way that you understand
Q: Where do you see your company in 10 years time?
A: Our company is growing and we are always looking for other talented companies to partner with. 10 years from now we will probably still be located in the Pacific Northwest. Only we will have even more talent within our group. One of us has Google Glass and within 10 years hopefully we will all be wearing Google Glass
Q: Where do you see the web design industry in the future?
A: Multi-device design and mobile. Playing with Google Glass just validates that mobile is the future and devices are constantly changing. Web design is marketing, and we will all need to focus in on how the marketing platforms can be used to leverage exposure
Q: What computers do you have use in your offices, PCs or Macs?
A: Both PC and Mac
Q: How was your company name chosen?
A: Oh we spent months on this. Many of us had companies with names we spent time developing. We spent such a long time throwing around ideas. Then one night at dinner it just came to us as a collective. We wanted to make sure to include all forms of media. Then there is the fact that we are in the Northwest. This is how all our ideas come together.
Q: If you were to give your clients one tip on how to get the most from their website what would it be?
A: Don't think of your site as a website. Think of it as an entrance into your business. Create a list of things you want your visitors to get from your site.
