Q: What's your name and position in the company?
A: Wayne Thomas - My own Boss

Q: Describe your company in 5 words.
A: New, Fresh, Dynamic, Professional, Affordable

Q: What's your business philosophy?
A: Design Reaction have seen that there are many small businesses in the area of Ammanford and South Wales, but affordability of the average graphic and web designer is out of their financial reach. Therefore I decided to start Design Reaction to provide the local businesses with a professional service from Branding to complete CMS website design without the hefty costs.

Q: Describe your office environment.
A: Design Reaction is a one man band as I am Self Employed, and so I work from the comfort of my own home meaning my bills are cut, and so I can pass savings on to my clients.

Q: Describe how your team interact and work together.
A: Again, as I am Self Employed, I work with myself, therefore my team get on very well and agree with everything I say :)

Q: What makes you different from other web design companies?
A: I have worked in the design environment for over 12 years, worked with various clients in the surrounding area, and have a general understanding on what the client wants and what I can give to suit their budget.

Q: How do you get the majority of your business?
A: I only started the business 3 months before writing this, but all my work currently comes from word by mouth. I ensure that my clients leave happy so that they will have no problems recommending my services.

Q: Describe how you manage projects from the initial client contact to completion and handover.
A: Meeting to Brief, Produce Designs, Review Designs, Meeting, Build Site, Implement Additional features (e.g. CMS), Meeting, Go Live, Handover

Q: What do you think is the most crucial element of creating a good client relationship?
A: The saying is �The customer is always right�. Well, I�m sorry but I don�t agree. I aim to please every client by providing suggestions on what would be their best options. Also constant communication is key to working well one another.

Q: How do you manage demanding clients?
A: I make my clients aware of my design and build process in the initial briefing, once a design has signed off a design and the build of the site has begun, any change of minds can be charged at my discretion. Once a Brief if written, the project will be scheduled to that brief, any additional features can be added at a later date at extra cost, or implemented during the build, but will affect the cost and scheduled build time.

Q: If a client was trying to decide between a shortlist of web design companies, how would you recommend they go about selecting the right one for them?
A: Ensure that they have carefully worked out their budget, and stick to it. Don�t be pulled in by any gimmicks offered you don�t really need. At the end of the day, decide what the purpose of the site is for, ensure it functions and appeals to your target audience, know your budget, and if there�s any left in the pot, then look at fancy extras, or even better, try some offline marketing to promote your new site.

Q: Where do you see your company in 10 years time?
A: My short term aim is to concentrate on local businesses, but in 10 years, I hope to be able to target small to medium businesses across the UK whilst maintaining to keep my fees low and affordable to new businesses for custom designed work, no templates.

Q: Where do you see the web design industry in the future?
A: There will always be web design work of some form, it is slowly moving over the mobile media and who knows what next, as long as the designer/developer is happy to move on with time and explore new media, there will always be work available.

Q: What computers do you have use in your offices, PCs or Macs?
A: Both PC and Mac

Q: How was your company name chosen?
A: When working with clients in the past, it was nice sense of achievement to have the client take a look at the work you produced and react with a smile or other gesture of appreciation, and whilst I provide graphic and web design, design reaction was born.

Q: If you were to give your clients one tip on how to get the most from their website what would it be?
A: Shop around not only for the best price, but for what suits your site best. It's always a good sign for the client when they have left from the initial meeting feeling that they understand a bit more about their site, and get on well with the designer/developer.
