Q: What's your name and position in the company?
A: My name is Richard Nash and I am the Business Director at CSI Media.
Q: Describe your company in 5 words.
A: Innovative, Reliable, Unique, Meticulous, Caring
Q: What's your business philosophy?
A: Our business philosophy is to provide excellent web, software and Umbraco CMS solutions at excellent prices without outsourcing our work.
Q: Describe your office environment.
A: Our strong team ethic helps us to consistently produce excellent website and software solutions.
Everyone is very supportive and approachable here - we place an equal level of importance on friendliness and passion as we do skill when recruiting. This creates a positive vibe and is the reason why seven team members have celebrated 10 years with the company. We also attribute this to our success in winning multiple awards. The latest is "Top UK Web Designers" from Clutch in 2018.
When times get stressful, our office dog, Wilson (soon to be "Sir"), has a calming effect!
Q: Describe how your team interact and work together.
A: The office is open plan which allows our different teams (design, development, marketing & support) to communicate with each other in a very fluid manner.
Each client is assigned a dedicated Account Manager who provides ongoing support & updates throughout each stage of the project.
Q: What makes you different from other web design companies?
A: We get to know our clients and understand their aims, objectives and requirements thoroughly. We genuinely care about all our clients, and this is reflected in our collection of awards won via client feedback.
Q: How do you get the majority of your business?
A: Historically, a large proportion of our client base heard about us via word-of-mouth and client recommendations.
Last year (2017), we launched a new website (substantial research went into optimising the user-experience) and have recorded a substantial increase in enquiries via this avenue - its design, content and optimisation have been very effective thus far.
Q: Describe how you manage projects from the initial client contact to completion and handover.
A: Initial contact is via email or phone call, where we establish the client’s aims, objectives, deadline/s, budget, and garner an understanding of their business and processes. If we feel that we can meet the requirements of the project, we arrange a face-to-face meeting to gather more detailed requirements. This is all free of charge.
We will then provide the client with some solid cost and time estimates.
If the client wishes to proceed, we will start with developing wireframes and a specification for the job. Our design team work closely with the client to produce the most effective designs, whilst working within budget and timescales, and adhering to the functional requirements of the project.
The project then goes into HTML implementation, logic implementation, internal testing and finally UAT (User Acceptance Testing) where we ask the client to test the proposed solution and report any issues. Issues are then corrected and, re-deployed to UAT and when the client is happy, the project goes live!
Q: What do you think is the most crucial element of creating a good client relationship?
A: We are proud to have a very good relationship with pretty much all our clients.
Honesty is imperative - we strive to give our clients accurate costs and timescales.

Q: How do you manage demanding clients?
A: By being honest and making sure we give them exactly what they are entitled too. Don't let them believe the impossible is possible.
Q: If a client was trying to decide between a shortlist of web design companies, how would you recommend they go about selecting the right one for them?
A: Given the level of investment, we would recommend a few things to help clients in choosing the right web design company.
1) View their portfolio of work: https://www.csimedia.net/our-work
2) Arrange for a face-to-face meeting (if possible) where you can discuss your requirements, ask questions, learn about their processes, their people, their ethos.
3) Certifications are important as they demonstrate an agency’s competency in delivering effective solutions. We are an Umbraco Gold Partner: https://umbraco.com/partners/partnerlist/csi-media/
4) We would advise clients to compare and review agencies on RAR: http://www.recommendedagencies.com/csi-media/testimonials

Q: Where do you see your company in 10 years time?
A: Still at the forefront of website design technology, hopefully!
We are continuously growing. During our 20 years, our team has increased from three to 36. Our latest recruitment drive saw four new developers and one designer join the team, and we plan to employee a batch of graduates this summer.
This is because the demand for bespoke websites and Umbraco CMS’s continues to grow, people are seeing our websites and are wanting to work with us!
Q: Where do you see the web design industry in the future?
A: Web design will move into providing solutions that work with many new forms of consumption.
We are already seeing this with mobile growth and it won't be long until your houses connect with all sorts of web and app technology.
Q: What computers do you have use in your offices, PCs or Macs?
A: Both PC and Mac
Q: How was your company name chosen?
A: The original name - Career Source International - was based around us creating software for the recruitment industry. This sounded clunky, so we cut it down to CSI Media.
Sadly, it has nothing to do with the girls and boys in Miami!
Q: If you were to give your clients one tip on how to get the most from their website what would it be?
A: Just one tip? I’d say keep your content fresh for an optimal user experience and to help with search engine rankings. Search engines factor in lots of criteria when determining where your website ranks, and one of them is how frequently you publish new content.
