Q: What's your name and position in the company?
A: My name is Calum Macleod and I am the owner of the company.

A: Creative, effective, fast, trustworthy, experienced.

Q: What's your business philosophy?
A: Do the best work you can and keep learning.

Q: Describe your office environment.
A: Relaxed and busy. Music blaring usually.

Q: Describe how your team interact and work together.
A: We find the best way to work is to be in the same room as each other so that we can all talk about the work that we are carrying out and help each other out when necessary.

Q: What makes you different from other web design companies?
A: What makes Big Surf Digital different is the level of attention we give to the clients goals. From start to finish we have our eye on what the client needs instead of just ticking off another project.

Q: How do you get the majority of your business?
A: Mainly from networking and word of mouth but also through online enquiries.

Q: Describe how you manage projects from the initial client contact to completion and handover.
A: We'll start with a chat with the client to find out what they need to get out of the project and then we'll write a proposal to detail the steps we recommend taking to achieve the goals. Once the plan is approved and signed off we get to work.

Q: What do you think is the most crucial element of creating a good client relationship?
A: Openness and constant communication helps to create and keep a good relationship going.

Q: How do you manage demanding clients?
A: We take time to explain processes as clearly as possible and keep in regular contact to try and avoid any surprises for the client. Me make it clear what the client will receive from a particular project so that we're all on the same page.

Q: If a client was trying to decide between a shortlist of web design companies, how would you recommend they go about selecting the right one for them?
A: We always strive to create the absolute best site possible with no corners cut at any point.

Q: Where do you see your company in 10 years time?
A: Delivering regular projects of a high calibre with a huge number of satisfied clients.

Q: Where do you see the web design industry in the future?
A: It's going to be on our TV's and whatever devices we have on us be they Ipads, phones or watches. It'll be a challenge but a fun one.

Q: What computers do you have use in your offices, PCs or Macs?
A: PC

Q: How was your company name chosen?
A: I've always been into surfing but never been very good at it. I formed Big Surf with the ultimate goal of being able to work remotely for periods of time so that I have access to beaches and surf. The name also refers to the wave of traffic our marketing clients receive after sticking with us. Cheesy? Absolutely.

Q: If you were to give your clients one tip on how to get the most from their website what would it be?
A: Clearly describe your service or products everywhere you can on your site. From your text to your meta data, make sure you're getting your point across.
