Q: What's your name and position in the company?
A: My name is Harrie and it\'s my business.
Q: Describe your company in 5 words.
A: Personal. Innovative. Dedicated. Professional. Affordable.
Q: What's your business philosophy?
A: I believe that every website should be the best it can possibly be, whatever the budget. Which is why I can confidently say that I am incredibly fair with pricing as the finished product is worth more than what the client has paid.
Q: Describe your office environment.
A: I can technically work from anywhere. Previously I have gone on-site to work with the client direct, which was nice as it meant I felt like I was going to work in the \'normal sense\'. But what with COVID-19 lockdown and restrictions, I do most of my work at home. I have an outside office at the bottom of the garden where I work normally and where I would hold meetings.
Q: Describe how your team interact and work together.
A: The team is just me, myself and I. If we have creative differences, I will just make a cup of tea and then get back straight to work. We rarely fall out.
Q: What makes you different from other web design companies?
A: The honest answer is that they don\'t have me. I believe I am the most friendly person you could ever work with. I will challenge the customer to give them an alternative perspective where required. As I work for myself, I have the freedom of getting on with projects, which means there are no long turn around times. Also, as I work for myself, no crazy overheads, which means the pricing is always affordable.
Q: How do you get the majority of your business?
A: Through word of mouth. I rarely advertise. In 15 years, this is one of the 1st times I have actually joined a site like this.
Q: Describe how you manage projects from the initial client contact to completion and handover.
A: Regular contact is key. Even if there is not much to update on, I believe the contact is incredibly important. At the end of the day, the customer is spending their hard earned money, which is why they need to know what it happening with it.
Q: What do you think is the most crucial element of creating a good client relationship?
A: The ability to listen. I have seen time and time again, web designers tend to dictate on how things are going to work. I take the sat back approach and build a relationship naturally, rather than a forced relationship.
Q: How do you manage demanding clients?
A: I under promise, and over deliver. I will always manage expectations, but I will always do my best to exceed them. If a client has large or big requirements, I will do my best to ensure these are met.
Q: If a client was trying to decide between a shortlist of web design companies, how would you recommend they go about selecting the right one for them?
A: Meet them. Or in this day and age with the lockdown and restrictions, at least jump on a Zoom call with them. You will be working with them for a period of time, so it\'s always good to go by first impressions and meet them.
Q: Where do you see your company in 10 years time?
A: I hope I\'m still doing what I am doing as its a job that I love. If it gets big enough to take on people to work for me and build a team up, that would be wonderful, but for the meantime, I love the 1-to-1 approach I have with clients.
Q: Where do you see the web design industry in the future?
A: It\'s already a massive industry. More and more companies are launching and young entrepreneurs are getting into it and working for themselves. It\'s highly competitive as it is already. I think the web technologies and applications will be alot more advanced where people can build and manage their own website themselves, without the need for people like me. In an ideal world that does not happen, but only time will tell.
Q: What computers do you have use in your offices, PCs or Macs?
A: Mac
Q: How was your company name chosen?
A: It was the one given to me at birth. I used to hide behind company names I spent time on, but I know the biggest selling point to my work, is me! So therefore, I should be proud and operate under my actual name, rather than a trading name.
Q: If you were to give your clients one tip on how to get the most from their website what would it be?
A: Don\'t think short term. When you want a website, think how you could evolve the business. There is nothing worse than spending alot of money getting a website, to then change it completely again in 2 to 3 years time.
