Common Scam Warning

I am plagued every day by emails from various fake organisations around the world claiming I have inherited or won or am entitled to millions of dollars but this one just made me laugh out loud mainly because it claimed I am DEAD.

I am amused and disturbed beyond words that the scammers are now even emailing the dead in the hope of increasing their profits.

These scams all work in the same way and amazingly people still fall for them. The emails always claim you are entitled to a huge sum of money and they invite you to send in various personal details to them in order to claim the fund.

A copy of the email I received is below, there are numerous variations of this that do the rounds, all with the same aim of conning you out of your hard earned cash or stealing your identity.

In this case the email was addressed from Barrister Mark Wilson from the email address beverly42@cwnet.com

Greetings My Dear!!!

A power of attorney was forwarded to our office this morning by two gentle men, one of them is an American national and he is MR DAVID DEANE by name while the other person is MR JACK MORGAN by name a CANADIAN national.This gentlemen claimed to be your representative, and this power of attorney stated that you are dead, they brought an account to replace your information’s in other to claim your fund of $2.5 Million USD which it is right now lying DORMANT and UNCLAIMED, below is the new account they have submitted:

Please you are hereby advice to reconfirm the below information to this honorable office for confirmation to help us serve you better.
