We hired Desirea in December to help us complete an ongoing project in PHP geared towards the plastic surgery industry. This project is an application geared towards customer relationship management of patients in the plastic surgery industry.
Desirea has been working on a calendar/scheduling piece built in Jquery and PHP. She built a custom php code generator that pours out the class files for a MVC Pattern software architecture that has reduced development time as we move the code over to her OOP code base. She's also helped jumpstart our processes as we move to the Agile Development process.

Desirea worked to find a solution that would fit within the budget we had then worked to find content and build content that would attract the kind of traffic we were looking to get for the website.
She has set us up with an autotmated social media profile and updates our twitter and link sending each month.
Desirea Herrera and inphotek.com are worth every penny we paid and then more. Whenever we need something finished or fixed, she gets the job done.

I paid Ms. Herrera half of the cost agreed upon for a customized e-commerce site with integrated shopping cart. The payment was made in February with a projected start date of March 1. It is now April and I have nothing to show for it. While the set price of $500 was discussed and agreed upon, as I became more and more agitated about the progress of the site, I was told by Ms. Herrera that she had already invested 7.5 hours of time on my project and had only alloted 10 hours for my project thus leaving only 2.5 hours of work time to complete my site (and additionally requesting another $125.00). I was flabergasted by this because at no time were hourly rates discussed. I was told 10 hours was the amount of time she had estimated for the design of the site yet this was never discussed with me. I explicitly stated in my original advertisement that I did not accept hourly rates and 10 hours for a website that cost $500 to design equals $50.00 an hour. Why would a small business owner like myself ever agree to pay such an amount? I had to ask Ms. Herrera for a refund before she would even send me one mock-up of the design. Phone calls and emails were often ignored and/or responded to a days later. So now, I am $250.00 in the hole and still do not have a website for my business.

I suggest one thinks twice before hiring this company!

Based on conversations we had through email and on the phone, and Ms. Boyd's description of the project, I estimated 10 hours of work to give the client the $500 figure. The estimate did not allot an unlimited amount of hours for other activities beyond the scope of the project. Creation of the interface based on the software templates and uploading and configuring of the software were the only components of the project. Deciding homepage content in a mockup was outside the scope of the project. I found it my responsbility to keep the client informed that this was outside the scope of the project and that additional costs would be incurred if we went over the hours.

The hourly rate was discussed on the phone with Ms. Boyd. She was told that 500.00 gets her 10 hours of time. She was also informed via email that the ecommerce cart on the CMS was being custom built for another company and that it would be folded into her project. She was kept informed of the progress of custom ecommerce cart module that she would be using in her website.

When the client first addressed her concerns over the length of time it was taking, I suggested the use of another cart with blog and forum capabilities. We discussed it, and the client decided that she wanted the customized CMS when I completed it. As the custom project came closer to completion and ready for testing, Ms. Boyd claimed she did not care about being updated as to the progress of work that would benefit her company. Towards the end of the custom module build I informed the client that I would be uploading it for testing. At no time was the web domain ever pointed at a web server that I could access to upload and configure the software for her website.

I needed a website to reach out to my current horse training/lesson clients and to develop my business. Desirea's professional approach made our intiial public outreach highly successful. She and her team worked to launch the website quickly and went way above what I originally required. I wanted a website with a way to database my customers and get more customers. Desirea implemented a highly effective content management system with newsletters, blogs, user registration, events calendar (for all our ranch competitions and events) and content that keeps on building. I think the events calendar is generating a lot of attention because no other local area ranch has this type of content. She got us started on Twitter and Facebook. We got a new client via the website within the first few weeks and came into contact with a travel writer who wants to visit the ranch. Desirea & Inphotek optimized our site, allowing us to avoid paying the high costs associated with paying search engine companies for optimization. Within the first month, our site was fully optimized and we were getting new clients from the site. It is always easy to get in touch with Desirea at Inphotek. I'm never waiting on a reply for a question or idea for the website.

This experience has been more than I expected and definitely plays a role in our future.

Spit Creek Ranch
