Getting Found

15 December 2011
Sensible advice for getting your website found.

There is an awful lot of information out there about search engine optimisation (SEO) and it can be quite a minefield to plough through which can be quite off-putting for a new company beginning their online journey. It goes without saying, but there is no point in having a fantastic website which no-one can find.

Even amongst industry experts, opinions differ and conflicting advice, unfortunately, is par for the course. All everyone wants to know is how to get potential customers to find their online home easily and at least cost. Of course, if we’re talking about a big corporate, their budgets match their size and they’ll be employing SEO specialists to do just that but for the average man on the street who’s feeling the penny pinch, what tricks of the trade are there?

Well, no one can guarantee that a website will continually rank as number 1 on any of the big search engines. Millions of new websites are created each year. Add to that the fact that the big search engines are constantly reviewing and updating their algorithms and the result is that website ranking positions change constantly.

However, there are some basics which most definitely do help such as ensuring that all content is well written with great article titles. The text should be clear and concise and all features on the website should be working properly so if you have a link which is meant to take customers to an enquiry form, make sure it works. The website should contain fresh, up-to-date information and you need to market your business to drive traffic there. That can be from advertising, word-of-mouth, sign writing and very importantly social media such as Twitter and Facebook.

At Web-Wonders we won’t make any ambitious claims or empty promises about getting your website on to the first page of Google search results, but we will do everything we can to ensure that its listed as highly as possible. We give sound, honest advice and also offer a competitive maintenance service to ensure that your information is fresh which will help to maintain your search engine ranking.
