Zonkey Solutions Ltd: ”quirky, different, friendly, fun, cake”

WWDC: What's your business philosophy?
Zonkey Solutions Ltd: ”I'd run another web company for 10 years before setting up Zonkey. We wanted to be a bit different. We don't compete with the big corporate boys and we're happy to admit that. We work with small businesses, we provide cost effective sites that are all content managed and functional. We don't over sell, we don't overcharge, we're all about the fun.”

WWDC: Describe your office environment.
Zonkey Solutions Ltd: ”We have a top floor office so we can survey the whole of the City below us. We have a huge picture of a Zebra on the wall. The name Zonkey is a cross between a Zebra and a Donkey so it kind of fits. We have lots of sofas and a rather splendid water cooler. ”

WWDC: Describe how your team interact and work together.
Zonkey Solutions Ltd: ”We work well as a team. We constantly share ideas and we have a large number of freelancers and sub contractors who work with us for a variety of projects.”

WWDC: What makes you different from other web design companies?
Zonkey Solutions Ltd: ”Our website represents the kind of people we are. We don't all walk around in suits with serious expressions on our faces. We like to get to know our clients, we have a relaxed atmosphere here and that is what our clients like about us.”

WWDC: How do you get the majority of your business?
Zonkey Solutions Ltd: ”The vast majority of our business comes through word of mouth and recommendation. We do a fair bit of social media and SEO work which pulls in a big chunk too. We've never really had to advertise or beg for work, we're very lucky”

WWDC: What do you think is the most crucial element of creating a good client relationship?
Zonkey Solutions Ltd: ”Being friendly, being honest and being open. People can immediately see what we're like when we meet, or just read our website and you'll get to us about us. We make the whole process enjoyable and not a chore.”

WWDC: How do you manage demanding clients?
Zonkey Solutions Ltd: ”We tend to tie them up and put them in a handy wardrobe we keep in the corner of the office. Ok, maybe not that extreme, but because we're easy going and people get along with us, we like to keep clients calm and work through their issues.”

WWDC: If a client was trying to decide between a shortlist of web design companies, how would you recommend they go about selecting the right one for them?
Zonkey Solutions Ltd: ”Find someone you can work with. It's important to have a good relationship with your web team because you then dont feel awkward about asking for changes or asking for things to be done.”

WWDC: Where do you see your company in 10 years time?
Zonkey Solutions Ltd: ”We've come a long way in the last 18 months. We're growing and we're keeping customers happy. We just want to continue to build on what we have and keep smiling.”

WWDC: What computers do you have use in your offices, PCs or Macs?

WWDC: How was your company name chosen?
Zonkey Solutions Ltd: ”We started with an A-Z of animals, beginning at Z, and this was the first quirky one we found. It's a good name, people don't tend to forget it!”

WWDC: If you were to give your clients one tip on how to get the most from their website what would it be?
Zonkey Solutions Ltd: ”Keep it updated. Blog about it. Talk about it. Add new things and keep it fresh.”
