”We work from an office in our home, which is a lovely rural cottage complete with low ceilings and sheep at the bottom of the garden. The office is a base for all our technology and also home to my art materials and sketchbooks and partially completed canvases. ”

”The team is just the two of us, myself and my partner Dominic. We have very different roles in the business but being such a small family business we work as a team combining our efforts towards the projects.”

”Many things, we even have a page on our website outlining our if not unique, very rare attributes (http:www.sweetstudio.co.uk/reasons) , One is our approachability, we are a small family business, not a group of 'flash Harrys' we understand the demands on the small business owner and we are there to help, not bamboozle with jargon or trick into something they neither need or want, we don't make unreasonable charges and give 100% towards doing a fantastic job and providing excellent service. How do you get the majority of your business?

”The majority of our business is defiantly from the recommendation of our existing clients, they know we are as good as we say, and share that information with their friends . ”

Describe how you manage projects from the initial client contact to completion and handover.
Sweet Studio Designs:
”Every project is unique and requires some individual shaping but the process is basically the same, I clarify with the client exactly what they want and what ideas they have, time-frames ,budget and design brief have agreed upon. Then I launch straight into Photoshop and do several mock-ups to the given brief, these I email over to the client and basically do several iterations to their feedback until we arrive at the design they are 100% happy with. Before the site goes live I put it up on a test domain for the client to review for the final tweaks.

What do you think is the most crucial element of creating a good client relationship?
Sweet Studio Designs:
”Must be communication, both ways, I need to know what they want and if they like what I do for them and they need to be able to contact me whenever they have a query or need something doing. Email is a godsend, it allows the process to really flow, if the client can look over the work and give prompt feedback, the project can fly.”

How do you manage demanding clients?

”Like all the others really, I do what they want, I am there for them when they have questions and requests and as I charge £15 per hour for additions and alteration I add up the time spent and bill them, no problem.”

If a client was trying to decide between a shortlist of web design companies, how would you recommend they go about selecting the right one for them?
Sweet Studio Designs:
”this could take a lot more than 100 words, but look over their portfolio and see if they like the look of the sites created. Go to the sites already made and see how they work, if they do as they should, if images load rapidly and scrollers , scroll, etc. Then I guess the best thing would be call them up and talk over the project in mind, see if they are someone you could work with and if they can match your expectations for price and delivery time-frame. ”

”Maintain the simple things really, regularly updating content, adding relevant links and checking present links are still pertinent and working. Maybe today adding social media into the mix, take advantage of the potential to get your brand into a whole new demographic. ”
