I didn't know if we needed a web-site with a content management system.

Would we be making regular changes, and would we be capable of doing it ourselves?

I am pleased to say that with S8080's Light Orange CMS, not only did we build the content, but we have found that we are more than able to make additions, changes and edits to our site. The system is very simple, solid, practical and robust. Just from the manual and one call to the support team at Light Orange we were able to build the web site that we envisaged.

The CMS is proving to be a great success, and has delivered real, measurable value to our business.

Regards,

Mark Edwards

WWDC: What's your name and position in the company?
S8080: Chris, I'm the Creative Director here at S8080.

WWDC: Describe your company in 5 words.
S8080: Organised, professional, creative, technical, trusted

WWDC: What's your business philosophy?
S8080: Our team consists of happy, versatile, creative professionals from different backgrounds and experience (and, in some cases, planets) who work hard to make S8080 the best it can be. We are wholly focused on smoothing the path of the client and doing great work for them.

WWDC: Describe your office environment.
S8080: Our open plan studio is based in the Technium building in the SA1 Swansea Waterfront development. A more inspiring view point from our studio, overlooking the city’s marina development, would be hard to find. Swansea is a beachfront city within easy reach of road and rail networks, the Gower and nearby Brecon Beacons. Of course, for those customers further afield, the internet permits a level of communication which is barely one step away from face to face and one look at our client list - particularly in the US, testifies to this.

WWDC: Describe how your team interact and work together.
S8080: We have several teams all held together by our project management team - three dedicated people with liaise with our clients (although they also speak directly to our designers and tech's). The project team (all PRINCE2 practitioners) ensure work gets done when it should be done and makes sure it's on budget. We are in an open plan environment and are great fans of quick 'minute meetings'.

WWDC: What makes you different from other web design companies?
S8080: S8080 employs 18 happy, passionate and professional individuals who are proud to be part of a Welsh team producing creative digital media that rivals national agencies. They are happy simply because they have the processes in place and the scope to do their job properly and therefore work with happy clients. We are ridiculously organised and efficient. We are famed for it in a [creative] industry that is surprisingly lax. Our comprehensive project alignment processes and integrated PRINCE2 project and account management ensure that deadlines are met and budgets adhered to… more happy clients.

WWDC: How do you get the majority of your business?
S8080: Word of mouth, digital rosters, more word of mouth.

WWDC: Describe how you manage projects from the initial client contact to completion and handover.
S8080: S8080 employ PRINCE2 qualified Project Managers to adopt and scale relevant elements of the PRINCE2 methodology on a project by project basis. The elements we use depend on the scope of each project and your specific requests, however all S8080 projects are run using core PRINCE 2 principles to ensure that the project proceeds according to an agreed plan, with agreed deliverables and that all risks are monitored and communicated to your project team until project sign off.

WWDC: What do you think is the most crucial element of creating a good client relationship?
S8080: Sublime customer service, Inspired creative, transparency and trust and good old fashioned Value for money.

WWDC: How do you manage demanding clients?
S8080: All of our clients are demanding - it's the sector we work in! We make sure everything is documented up front with tight project planning and strict budget controls - this ensures a very happy demanding client!

WWDC: If a client was trying to decide between a shortlist of web design companies, how would you recommend they go about selecting the right one for them?
S8080: Do your research and ask no more than five for a comprehensive proposal, always tell them your budget and you'll be able to see who offers the most value. Shortlist three and go and visit them at their offices. You should be greeted by the company's directors, not a sales person. Always ask for references and always follow them up. Ask about how they can ensure your website will be designed from the users perspective. Ask about their project management approach and mention PRINCE2 - if they look confused, move on. Effective project management can mean the difference between a great project and 2 or 3 months of hell!

WWDC: Where do you see your company in 10 years time?
S8080: Still here, still independent, perhaps a little bit bigger.

WWDC: Where do you see the web design industry in the future?
S8080: At the forefront of all communications delivering excellent value for money.

WWDC: What computers do you have use in your offices, PCs or Macs?
S8080: Both PC and Mac

WWDC: How was your company name chosen?
S8080: If I had a pound... I'll save that story for our first meeting!

WWDC: If you were to give your clients one tip on how to get the most from their website what would it be?
S8080: Create personas and use them properly. It will guarantee success.
