RM Web Design: Reliable, innovative, friendly, flexible, supportive.

WWDC: Where do you see your company in 10 years time?
RM Web Design: To be recognised as an expert in website development, Internet strategy, online marketing, seo and graphic design. Providing jobs for a number of happy employees. Creating stunning websites that provide a high return on investment for many more happy customers.

WWDC: How was your company name chosen?
RM Web Design: It's just my initials with 'Web Design' stuck on the end ... not very imaginitive for a 'creative' I know. I think I just thought it was simple and easy to remember when I decided on it. I've been thinking lately about creating a new, more catchy name and image.

WWDC: What's your name and position in the company?
RM Web Design: My name is Richard Matthews and I operate on a freelance / sole trader basis.

WWDC: Describe your company in 5 words.
RM Web Design: Reliable, innovative, friendly, flexible, supportive.

WWDC: What's your business philosophy?
RM Web Design: Tell me what you want and I'll make it happen! It's not always true, but what this is really saying is - I will always do my best to achieve exactly what you want within your time-scales and budget.

WWDC: Describe your office environment.
RM Web Design: When I think of my office, I think 'over the top': Huge desks, my PC sounds like a plane taking off when it boots up, three monitors, numerous other electrical gadgets, huge printer etc. It makes me laugh, but it enables me to be great at my work.

WWDC: Describe how your team interact and work together.
RM Web Design: I am the team! I work long hours and enjoy what I do. I value creativity, achieving the best I can, I love learning and enjoy having a relaxed and pleasant environment in which to work. Oh and I NEVER outsource to other countries.

WWDC: What makes you different from other web design companies?
RM Web Design: I value providing an honest service that delivers exactly what I promise.

WWDC: How do you get the majority of your business?
RM Web Design: Word of mouth and client referrals. The best evidence that I am an extremely popular creative designer and web designer. Some work originates from my website, and I get some work from online directories and sites like this one, credit where credit's due.

WWDC: Describe how you manage projects from the initial client contact to completion and handover.
RM Web Design: We work hard to ensure that every design we create meets the client specification exactly. I will work with you throughout the project to ensure that you receive a design that you are 100% happy with. I approach every website with a fresh viewpoint and develop unique, tailor made solutions, not just another template with your name on it!

WWDC: What do you think is the most crucial element of creating a good client relationship?
RM Web Design: There are so many aspects to creating a good client relationship, but if I had to choose a single element I think listening to each client and responding promptly, honestly and respectfully is it. I guess it's two elements really, but that's all I got!

WWDC: How do you manage demanding clients?
RM Web Design: All clients are treated equally and with respect regardless of budget, the size of their business, the nature of their requirements or how demanding they are.

WWDC: If a client was trying to decide between a shortlist of web design companies, how would you recommend they go about selecting the right one for them?
RM Web Design: Ask for testimonials - existing customers can really help you in the decision making process. Get the name and contact details of the person to speak to in some of those organisations. Usually they will be more than happy to spend a minute talking about the service they received from their web designer.

WWDC: Where do you see the web design industry in the future?
RM Web Design: Even though much work is outsourced to other countries these days, I feel the trend will move in the opposite direction. I think the future will bring more simplified web systems, web apps will become ever more popular and everything will almost certainly be geared towards cms functionality.

WWDC: What computers do you have use in your offices, PCs or Macs?
RM Web Design: PC

WWDC: How was your company name chosen?
RM Web Design: It's just my initials with 'Web Design' stuck on the end ... not very imaginitive for a 'creative' I know. I think I just thought it was simple and easy to remember when I decided on it. I've been thinking lately about creating a new, more catchy name and image.

WWDC: If you were to give your clients one tip on how to get the most from their website what would it be?
RM Web Design: Educate yourself - learning about things like seo can pay dividends, try and learn all you can. That includes learning about your customers, welcome feedback and listen to what they say - they are the ones who will be using your website and they will tell you what they like and what they don't.
