WWDC: What's your name and position in the company?
PROMO DESIGN: John Amy, Owner.

WWDC: Describe your company in 5 words.
PROMO DESIGN: Making the World Beautiful

WWDC: What's your business philosophy?
PROMO DESIGN: My aim is to bring real impact to your brand, your website, your printed material, and most importantly, your business. Although the word 'design' has been somewhat abused over the last few years, I firmly believe that it is one of the most important factors in the success of a business. It's a shame we can't change our own identities as easily as we can our businesses'.

WWDC: Describe your office environment.
PROMO DESIGN: Work from home, almost paper-free.

WWDC: Describe how your team interact and work together.
PROMO DESIGN: I work alone but have a network of talented people who I can call upon as required to undertake any work requiring related skills or technical know-how. Working this way is very cost-effective.

WWDC: What makes you different from other web design companies?
PROMO DESIGN: I was trained in design at a design school and use traditional disciplines to achieve my goals. I believe a designer can design anything and I have over 30 years experience working for top London companies in other areas of design such as print, packaging, exhibition and advertising.

WWDC: How do you get the majority of your business?
PROMO DESIGN: Most are from referrals but I get a lot of general enquiries from people finding me on search engines.

WWDC: Describe how you manage projects from the initial client contact to completion and handover.
PROMO DESIGN: The design process comprises five distinct stages although may vary for particular projects. Before the project is started however, a question has to be asked – “Why do you need a new identity, brochure or website etc?” This question is the key to undertaking a successful project. WWDC: What do you think is the most crucial element of creating a good client relationship?
PROMO DESIGN: Tell the truth. No bulls**t. It is very important to find out the client's needs and to listen to him/her. They know more about their business than I do.

WWDC: How do you manage demanding clients?
PROMO DESIGN: With kid gloves :-)

WWDC: If a client was trying to decide between a shortlist of web design companies, how would you recommend they go about selecting the right one for them?
PROMO DESIGN: I'd ask them to read my blog on my website entitled 'Choosing A Web Design Company'. Look at examples of their work... check that it is actually their work. Get testimonials. Are they asking you the right questions? What are their costs? Qualifications and skills. Find someone you can communicate with.

PROMO DESIGN: Run by designers... not programmers

PROMO DESIGN: Mac

WWDC: If you were to give your clients one tip on how to get the most from their website what would it be?
PROMO DESIGN: I believe it's always a healthy idea to look at the big picture before undertaking a project. Just call or email me before you make any rash decisions. With over 30 years experience in design, advertising and marketing, I know what I'm talking about. As George Orwell said - "To see what is in front of one's nose needs a constant struggle.."
