This new website is a very different, smaller project which I can update myself. They have talked me through every stage, very quickly made alterations when I changed my mind and sent me extremely clear instructions for handling uploads.
They have an excellent ability to bring my ideas to life and I couldn't be more delighted with the speed, ease and attention to detail with which they completed the whole project.

Orcadia Design was recommended to me by a friend who had used their services to create a website for the Botanical Artists of Canada, of which I'm a member. I liked the design of this website better than anything else I'd seen and the price was right too. I approached Orcadia and got contract details which I ran past my computer help. He said it was a good contract. After a considerable delay while I procrastinated about what I wanted to put on the site, I contacted Johanna at Orcadia.
There were some initial delays with Orcadia, but once we got rolling everything went ahead very smoothly and I found Johanna very easy to work with and very accommodating. She produced an excellent website for me and responded quickly to requests for changes. In particular, she was very helpful in revising the website to deal with copyright issues that arose when I wished to mount images I had created but for which I didn't own the copyright. At one point I had difficulty in supplying her with an image that I wanted to put on my site and she was able to download it from another site. All in all, I have been very pleased with the website and with the working relationship I've had with Johanna.

I commissioned a website from Orcadia Design for our new self catering apartment and I am delighted with the end result. The website looks fresh and modern and conveys the type of look we were hoping for.
I felt involved in the process from the start and was kept up to date with the various stages reached. Johanna is very aproachable for someone like me who does not understand the first thing about how websites work, and nothing is too much trouble.
I am currently trying to get to grips with learning how to update my own bookings on the site and appreciate the help and support being given in this. It is not a case of once you pay the money you are on your own. The aftercare seems to be very good as well
I would reccomend Orcadia Design to others looking to set up their own website too.

A: We are fortunate to be able to live and work on the beautiful mainland of Orkney, surrounded by exquisite nature which our office window looks out onto.
Q: Describe how your team interact and work together.
A: Our team consists of partners Johanna and Chris who deal with clients, design and develop websites and provide content and advice to our customers. Assistant Liza takes care of website security maintenance as well as backend design and development. We work well as a team and can respond to issues effectively and rapidly.
Q: What makes you different from other web design companies?
A: Emphasizing customer services and the willingness to be there for clients when they need us, even on evenings and weekends, as well as providing a product that our customers are 100% happy with is what hopefully distinguishes us from other web design companies.
Q: How do you get the majority of your business?
A: The majority of our customers find us online via search engines or through recommendations from existing clients.
Q: Describe how you manage projects from the initial client contact to completion and handover.
A: We provide a clear and detailed webdesign proposal outlining who we are, how we work, what we can do for your business, how long the project will take to complete and how much our services cost. Once a prospective client decides to commission us to create a new website or re-design of an existing website, we take them through every step in a timely manner and provide content management system details on completion so clients can then update their own new website or we can also continue to provide support in the form of website updates and maintenance.
Q: What do you think is the most crucial element of creating a good client relationship?
A: A very important element is to be able to listen to a client, get a feel for what they are looking for and strive to design and implement a website that matches their vision as best as we can.
Q: How do you manage demanding clients?
A: The most important is to communicate with clients and listen to what it is they are looking for, remain polite and helpful throughout and provide services in a timely manner.
Q: If a client was trying to decide between a shortlist of web design companies, how would you recommend they go about selecting the right one for them?
A: The quality of the work should speak for itself more than anything. Go online and look at the websites that have been created, see how they work and compare and make your decision based on that.

Q: How was your company name chosen?
A: Upon relocating to Orkney and setting up our business in 2002, we wanted to create a connection between our business and the beautiful place we live in, hence Orcadia Design was born.
Q: If you were to give your clients one tip on how to get the most from their website what would it be?
A: Remember that your website homepage is crucial in providing potential clients with the very first impression of your company online. Even though it is not directly connected to the quality of the products or services you are trying to market, people will often make the connection in their mind that if they see a bad or mediocre website they will think the company doesn't care and conducts business in the same way. Keep your website contemporary, keep it fresh and up to date, provide interactivity and regard the investment you make into the creation of a good website as very important to push your business forward into the 21st century.
