Edinburgh Community Technology Academy
ECTA is a partnership project lead by the Edinburgh Chamber of Commerce under a Joined up for Jobs initiative, delivering Cisco and Microsoft training to unemployed people in Edinburgh.
Site build of XHTML/CSS is based on the MODx CMS to give ECTA partners the ability to manage content daily. MODx also provides the scalability required to let web authors add new site sections as courses develop and centres grow. For ECTA, this choice of an Open Source CMS framework was invaluable as it kept costs down, offered a flexible design approach and gave centre managers control over content

Harburn House
- Hosting
- Online Marketing
- Search Engine Optimisation (SEO)
- Development
Harburn House is an elegant Georgian mansion set in exquisite grounds between Edinburgh and Glasgow. The owners have created a unique, exclusive ‘country house’ which they make available for private parties, corporate gatherings and weddings. Our remit was to design a site to give a real feel of Harburn to clients from the UK, USA, Europe and beyond. Inspired by their latest brochure, our design was based on a "Guest Book" idea. We also created flip page "photo albums" to showcase some of the wonderful images they had, and giving them an opportunity to change the site seasonally.

- Search Engine Optimisation (SEO)
- Development
Our client wanted to capitalise on the speed and accessibility of the web to provide critical, time-sensitive information to investors. Their staff needed to manage content on an hourly basis, but had no technical knowledge. They also wanted scalability to grow without having to instigate a new architecture. The site is based on the MODx CMS to give flexibility, management and security. This ensured the integrity of a complex build within a cost-effective and easy to use CMS. Since launch the site has been highlighted on numerous CSS Gallery websites and seen traffic more than 1000 visitors a day.

CEBE is based in Princeton, New Jersey. It is HQ for a national network of educators concerned with improving the standards and quality of teaching, so that all students can achieve the highest standards. A website was required to act as a global reference point. Our design was based on their logo and built in XHTML/CSS with a Textpattern CMS to allow staff to update events, news and articles. Phase II added a dynamic db, creating a delivery channel of documentation, training tools and presentation materials, a members forum and a secure area to share work and teaching experiences.

The Faculty of Advocates, Scotland

- Search Engine Optimisation (SEO)
- Development
We worked with the Faculty to create a fully interactive site to meet the 600 + members and clients' requirements. The site design and build follows an extensive consultative and pre-planning phase which engaged a broad spectrum of users to implement the most appropriate solution to their needs. Built with accessible, valid HTML, CSS and an XML driven backend transformed via XSLT, the site offers a streamlined administration and content management system, full site search mechanism, continual traffic monitoring and provides access to a wide range of information, downloadable documents, application packs, press releases and newsletters. The site is fully updateable and maintained by the Faculty Services IT team. Accessibility was a key priority for the project, and a bespoke website management tool was developed by the Faculty team to ensure that not only did it meet WAI guidelines on the day of launch, but that it continues to do so throughout its lifetime.
