Interview

WWDC: Describe your company in 5 words.
Media Street Ltd: Reliable, modern, web design agency.

WWDC: Where do you see your company in 10 years time?
Media Street Ltd: Large - I hope! We've got a 5 year plan at the moment and that's coming along nicely. In 10 years I'd hope for more offices (not in the UK though) and a workforce exceeding 100. I would like to see diversity into other business sectors by then as well.

WWDC: How was your company name chosen?
Media Street Ltd: It came to me whilst traveling Thailand. It uses my surname "Street" and I thought "Media Street" just worked and was relevant. I didn't want the company to have a specific service in its title (i.e web, design, marketing etc.) as well though.

The most impressive thing about this developer is that they placed at the centre of everything a complete understanding of what we wanted and they grasped that pretty quickly. Add to that the fact that these are nice guys with whom to work and you end up feeling quite happy paying their invoice - which was for an amount that fairly reflected the work they did.

We are extremely pleased with the site that we now have. Although not highly complicated it does contain all the facilities we needed - the sensible application of categories and sub-categories, a good tag system which works very well, registration and log in to the site that is simple to operate and a very good search system.

We would have no hesitation in suggesting that Media-Street should, at the very least, be approached to discuss with you any site that you may be planning. This site is developed on Wordpress (at our request because the people in our organisation know how this platform works) but they also design on Joomla which is one of the more powerful platfors ideally suited to e-commerce.

Absolutely delighted with the work Media Street has done for us over the past year. We approached Media Street to create a website for our new web-based hot air balloon company and they included everything we asked for and more! We were kept well informed with regular updates throughout the whole process and were often shown examples and suggestions which Media Street thought may benefit us. The final product delivered to us by them was a well designed website which allows our customers to purchase vouchers and upgrades online, book flights and manage their individual accounts with ease. More importantly it is VERY user friendly for both ourselves and our customers. Media Street are a joy to work with and I would definitely recommend them to others.

Media Street are a brilliant website company, they provide us with everything we require to ensure our site functions well and is appealing to our audiences. Media Street are extremely reliable and efficient, we have worked with a number of web companies and always found different certain areas of service difficult, however with Media Street they truly provide everything we require in an easy, approachable and comprehensive way. They will consistently go above and beyond what we expect from them, with suggestions for improvements or advice that we otherwise wouldn't have thought of but that makes perfect sense! They work consisently and tirelessly for us, whether at the evenings or the weekends to ensure deadlines are met and are extremely reliable at delivering what they promise. We have not been disappointed once! They are extremely knowledgable in their field but are able to translate this into a simple and straightforward explanation to their clients. Media Street are a very professionally but friendly team, they always have a positive attitude and can do solution, I don't think there's a problem so far that they havn't been able to solve no matter how big! I would without reservation recommend Media Street, they are the best website company i have worked with and really do take the headache out of managing your website. Well done Media Street, what a rare but brilliant company to find!

Charlie Street

Charlie Street

Managing Director
Charlie Street founded Media Street Ltd in the first quarter of 2008. As a web consultant his strengths are in eCommerce, Web Design and Marketing.

WWDC: What's your name and position in the company?
Media Street Ltd: I'm Charlie Street the manager and owner of Media Street Ltd.

WWDC: Describe your company in 5 words.
Media Street Ltd: Reliable, modern, web design agency.

WWDC: What's your business philosophy?
Media Street Ltd: To push boundaries and never stand still. To achieve this every member of our workforce has to be passionate, dedicated, reliable and resourceful. If we miss this point then we're just another company and we've got no intentions of being just another company and I, as the owner, has no intentions of owning just another company!

WWDC: Describe your office environment.
Media Street Ltd: Productive, friendly, relaxed and open. We're lucky enough to be based out in the countryside of Devon so the air is always fresh and the grass is always green! We have daily management meetings as well so, as a result, we're always up to date with everything.

WWDC: Describe how your team interact and work together.
Media Street Ltd: The team works well. Mainly in the office it's just myself and James. We've known each other for years and we both LOVE improving companies and helping make success stories. So we both get the same type of buzz when working on projects.

WWDC: What makes you different from other web design companies?
Media Street Ltd: A lot I'd guess. I think we're very personal with our customers and also honest. I think this is probably one of our main strong points. Also we talk "English" - we never over complicate the situation or confuse customers - I think a lot of IT and web firms confuse customers with the way their staff talk to customers.

WWDC: How do you get the majority of your business?
Media Street Ltd: Personal recommendation and existing customers. This is easily the main channel for sales. We are fortunate enough to have some large national and global customers - these clients are always sending more business our way via recommendations.

WWDC: Describe how you manage projects from the initial client contact to completion and handover.
Media Street Ltd: Simple - we speak and get a understanding for the situation, come up with a plan, implement it and then handover.

WWDC: What do you think is the most crucial element of creating a good client relationship?
Media Street Ltd: Communication, respect and honesty.

WWDC: How do you manage demanding clients?
Media Street Ltd: It depends in which sense.... we don't really get demanding clients, in an angry way, we're lucky in that sense. As for demanding customers, who have a lot needing to be done in a short time, normally we just have to work late to please them.

WWDC: If a client was trying to decide between a shortlist of web design companies, how would you recommend they go about selecting the right one for them?
Media Street Ltd: I'd recommend a face to face meeting and then, after the meeting, I'd ask them "Are you 100% sure you understand and trust what that company is saying / proposing to you?". If your gut says no, leave them alone! Also, get multiple quotes, there's so many companies out there so it's worth shopping around.

WWDC: Where do you see the web design industry in the future?
Media Street Ltd: The industry never sleeps, sits still or slows down. In the future it'll just continue to improve & grow at a rapid rate. The world is gong online - so the web design industry needs to be pushing that and working on it 24/7. We won't change, but instead we'll evolve.

WWDC: What computers do you have use in your offices, PCs or Macs?
Media Street Ltd: Both PC and Mac

WWDC: How was your company name chosen?
Media Street Ltd: It came to me whilst traveling Thailand. It uses my surname "Street" and I thought "Media Street" just worked and was relevant. I didn't want the company to have a specific service in its title (i.e web, design, marketing etc.) as well though.

WWDC: If you were to give your clients one tip on how to get the most from their website what would it be?
Media Street Ltd: To be active and not just get your web design firm to run it all. For a website to be long term successful it needs a passionate person to drive it / run it. Make sure you have that person in your business.
