Rob first created my website in 2005, when I started my Acupuncture business. At the time, I had a vague idea of what I wanted and gave him some information to put on the website. I really didn't know what to expect, but I have to say that I was thoroughly impressed by the end result - the website looked fantastic! Not only was it very clean and professional looking, it was produced and published in a short space of time, which was even more impressive. It wasn't long before I received lots of positive feedback from clients, saying that they chose to contact me because my website reflected a more professional business, compared to others. Since then Rob has regularly updated my website and I have found him to be very efficient and reliable. More recently, Rob changed the design of my website and once again I was impressed by the quick turnaround as well as his creative input. I would highly recommend Rob if you are looking for someone professional, reliable, efficient, creative and co-operative.Thank you so much for all you've done so far!

After being completely let down by another company specialising in Actinic website design, we couldn't believe our luck when we came across Matrix23 and their Actinic templates which are so well designed and stylish and gave our website a professional look in no time. I think Rob and his company must be a best kept secret in the world of Actinic web design and his customer service is outstanding. Thank you Rob, it was a pleasure to work with you and I would recommend your services to anyone looking for a professional, friendly and working to the highest standards website designer.

The thought of building a website for my business was very daunting and I had been putting it off however Rob smoothed the way and made it easy and enjoyable. He listened to my ideas and found ways around every problem. I am indebted to him for his endless patience and calm, methodical approach. The wordpress site has given me exactly what I need in terms of content management and flexibility. Within two days I already had two new customers thanks to his help with writing meta descriptions. I continue to seek his help as I add to the site and am delighted with the positive response I have experienced.

After deciding to set up my online business in 2009 I approached Rob with lots of ideas on the look I was aiming for. He took everything on board and came up with a lovely professional site that has customers thinking we are a really big company! Since then we have continued to work together as the site evolves and I am very happy with everything. Rob is always on the end of the phone or an email if there is something I don’t understand - he has huge amounts of patience! I’ve had wonderful feedback on the website and I know that it has made a difference to my business. I’ve recommended him to everyone and will continue to do so.

WWDC: What's your name and position in the company?
Matrix23: My name is Rob and I own Matrix23

WWDC: Describe your company in 5 words.
Matrix23: Friendly, honest, fair, professional, efficient

WWDC: What's your business philosophy?
Matrix23: Although I work with modern technology I still believe in good old fashioned values such as treating people with respect, doing an honest job, taking pride in my work and providing my clients with an end product they that really works for them.

WWDC: Describe your office environment.
Matrix23: I work from home which is great because I can keep my carbon footprint to a minimum and work as many hours as I need to.

WWDC: Describe how your team interact and work together.
Matrix23: I work mainly on my own although I occasionally bounce ideas off friends and fellow developers by meeting up for a coffee and a chat.

WWDC: What makes you different from other web design companies?
Matrix23: I don't know how other people work but it always amazes me when people don't do what they say they are going to do, when they don't bother to reply to emails and when they think they can get away with really sloppy work. I like to think I communicate effectively with people so they know exactly what to expect, and then deliver what I promise.

WWDC: How do you get the majority of your business?
Matrix23: Word of mouth and search engines mainly. I advertised once back in 2006 but since then work has always come in whenever I need it.

WWDC: Describe how you manage projects from the initial client contact to completion and handover.
Matrix23: A quotation and schedule is sent to the client and each site is built on a test domain first.

WWDC: What do you think is the most crucial element of creating a good client relationship?
Matrix23: If I had to pick one it would be trust. Honesty, respect and the ability to listen are also crucial.

WWDC: How do you manage demanding clients?
Matrix23: I meditate and practice mindfulness :-)

WWDC: If a client was trying to decide between a shortlist of web design companies, how would you recommend they go about selecting the right one for them?
Matrix23: Draw up a list of all the pros and cons of each company, decide which looks best on paper, then put the paperwork aside, meditate on it and see which one feels right. If the one that feels right is different from the one that looks best on paper, have meetings with both of them and see which one seems best afterwards. If in doubt trust your gut feeling.

WWDC: Where do you see your company in 10 years time?
Matrix23: I don't think that far ahead. I prefer to live in the present moment. If I think too much about the future I will be less effective now.

WWDC: Where do you see the web design industry in the future?
Matrix23: I think websites need to be simpler. People can't cope with information overload so I think simplicity will be the watchword for the future. As more and more people use mobile devices maybe we'll see each website having two versions: the summary and the full version, where the summary shows you at a glance what that site has to offer.

WWDC: What computers do you have use in your offices, PCs or Macs?
Matrix23: PC

WWDC: How was your company name chosen?
Matrix23: The word Matrix reminds me that life is not always what it seems to it reminds me not to take life (or myself) too seriously. 23 is my favourite number. It has interesting properties.

WWDC: If you were to give your clients one tip on how to get the most from their website what would it be?
Matrix23: Well that's easy - contact me, obviously :-)
