• What kind of relationship did you have with your website designer? Did they communicate well with you? Couldn’t have been better, no really. We had two previous companies that didn’t listen to what we wanted or couldn’t deliver.
• Did they take your requests into consideration? We provided a brief and then had feedback on that along with their own ideas – perfect. We wanted to try and re-use an existing e-commerce back end that we had working, but it proved to be cheaper to have a new one and was the right call in the end. The fact that Ketchup were prepared to look at doing it was great support.
• Did you feel part of the process? Did they keep you informed about what they were doing? Yes great daily/weekly updates, test sites to review and amends list updated. Great.
• Did they speak to you in jargon or jargon free? Yes, when we looked at SEO – which is complicated - it was laid out in a very detailed proposal and a meeting called to discuss the finer points.
• Were you happy with the final outcome? Yes love it and now busy improving the content. It’s helping sell and will continue to grow.
• Did they do something exceptional which you hadn't anticipated? The creative design and some of the extra features that were offered have really added to the end result, yes expectations exceeded for sure.
• Did they deal with any complications well? Yes, the project to try and re-use an existing back end was handled well – that was the only complication, which was self induced.
• Great bunch of guys and gals and we would highly recommend them.

Ketchup Marketing redesigned our website in June 2010 and we are absolutely delighted with the result. Ketchup were brilliant to work with, responsive to our requests, provided fast turn around and provided a really good quality service to us. They also gave us some excellent advice with regard to content and search engine optimisation. I have also been really impressed with how they have maintained an ongoing relationship with us. Our previous company just designed the website and left us to it. Ketchup provide an ongoing service making recommendations to ensure your website is performing as it should be.

Ketchup created and branded a web site for our first holiday cottage in Manton, close to Rutland Water.

Michelle and the team took time to listen to our needs and to research the local market and our competitors, as a result the first class web site has been a great success.

Recently, we have updated the web site to include an "availability checker", which we can edit. This allow us to keep the web site up to date for our visitors.

In addition to the initial brand and design, Ketchup have undertaken a photoshoot, created stationary and now manage our monthly Google adverts and WSO.

We have worked with Michelle and the team at Ketchup for the past 2 years (when they were at another agency). We had no hesitation in supporting them in their new business venture.

Ketchup manages our web site and online store, monthly email campaigns, data cleansing, WSO and Google advertising, as well designing our brochures and other printed marketing materials. Their ability to understand our needs, keep within budget and produce results is second to none!

We have no hesitation in recommending Michelle, Gary, John and Ian.

Gary White

Gary White

Creative Director, Designer
How do you reconcile a man’s lust for ornate bread bins with his outstanding ability to create brand-building concepts for top companies? Must be a visual thing.

Seen as a guru by both colleagues and clients, Gary epitomises the idea of calm hands fronting up a prodigious imagination. And when he’s not getting his fingers burnt on beach barbecues, or late-night gaming sites, he’s producing the kind of cool design that increases brand awareness, repositions companies, attracts new customers, changes public perceptions and stage-manages corporate images.

Just as he did for nine years at IBM. Just as he did for a whole diversity of clients when he ran his own design group.

Which is all very well, but what exactly was he doing that day, sitting beside a Florida freeway, on the bonnet of a hire car, staring open-mouthed at the sky?

Watching the launch of the space shuttle, of course.

Ian Woods

Ian Woods

Director of Copy
One picture is worth 10,000 words? Ha! Not to someone who writes in images. And paints in English.

Not to someone who can talk quietly, persuasively, into the ears of consumers. Or grab their lapels and command their attention. Not to someone who can sound as trustworthy as a best friend. As reassuring as a midwife. Or as edgy as a drug addict. Copywriting? Why, it’s all in the tone of voice, old bean.

Ian has spent three decades working for agencies as large as O&M, JWT, FCB…and as perfectly formed as Ketchup. He has worked extensively in the travel, holiday and leisure, property, automotive, FMCG, financial and legal sectors.

It’s all in a day’s work. Arranging the 26 letters of the alphabet into brand-building concepts, multi-media ad campaigns, TV and radio commercials. Websites, emails, press ads, brochures, posters, DM pieces…

And when the day’s work is done, it’s a fast ride home on an old, Italian V-twin. Satisfying, that. Working hard. Then thundering past all those Porsches on a wave of kinetic mayhem.

John Simpson

John Simpson

Director of Interactive and Web Development
Forget big glasses, comedy ties and short-sleeved bri-nylon shirts. In fact, drop the whole technorak mental picture. John may have an absurdly profound understanding of multimedia technology, he may have been one of IBM’s web development stars, he may be fixated with the latest advances in web technologies. But geek he ain’t.#

Think, instead, of a guy with the sort of drive needed to produce the most professional job possible for his clients. Or to take a rally-prepped Nova to the Nürburgring. Think of someone capable of directing infernally difficult web development and specialist programming. And making it look easy. Think of a free spirit who promises that, one day, he will take a roadcruise across America – and then the world.

John Simpson. Martial arts adherent. Motor sports fanatic. And techno-freak extraordinaire.

Michelle Jones

Michelle Jones

Marketing Director
Beneath Michelle’s smiling composure, seethe some powerful passions.

A penchant for pink champagne, for example. And ice skating. Not always separately!

And then there’s Ketchup. Michelle’s baby. The one she’s nurturing with all her silky business management skills. The one that was born to provide her clients with unbeatable web and print design, backed by a seamless client service.

Which brings us back to Michelle. She has the uncommon ability to combine commercial pragmatism with a real-world sense of humour. She also has years of experience as a Marketing Director in industries as diverse as adhesives, heating and higher education. Including five years as a senior project manager at IBM, and four years managing the Rare IT group.

During which time she developed other passions; for producing work on time, on brief and on budget. For creating measurable results for her clients.

Look into her eyes and you just know Michelle means business. One of her stated ambitions is to own a Villa. We wouldn’t be surprised if she meant the football club.

WWDC: What's your name and position in the company?
Ketchup Marketing Limited: Michelle Jones - Marketing Director

WWDC: Describe your company in 5 words.
Ketchup Marketing Limited: Approachable, Innovative, Effective, Inspired, Reliable

WWDC: What's your business philosophy?
Ketchup Marketing Limited: To provide the best value (not necessarily the cheapest!) websites and marketing solutions to enable our customers to achieve their business goals. Works that works!

WWDC: Describe your office environment.
Ketchup Marketing Limited: Tidy .. well my office is, let's not discuss the boys! The office is creative and fun to be in.

WWDC: Describe how your team interact and work together.
Ketchup Marketing Limited: Having worked together for over 30 years, we are a close team, some say we communicate telepathically.

WWDC: What makes you different from other web design companies?
Ketchup Marketing Limited: We listen to our clients needs, take time to understand their industry and competitors. We don't sell solutions that aren't required, you will only receive honest good value work from the team at Ketchup.

WWDC: How do you get the majority of your business?
Ketchup Marketing Limited: Word of mouth and enquiries from our existing sites.

WWDC: Describe how you manage projects from the initial client contact to completion and handover.
Ketchup Marketing Limited: All projects are managed by myself. We work from an initial briefing form or meeting, from here we produce quotations and project plans. On approval of costs and time scales, flat artwork is produced for client approval / feedback. On approval web sites are built and handed over to the client.

WWDC: What do you think is the most crucial element of creating a good client relationship?
Ketchup Marketing Limited: Communication and honesty.

WWDC: How do you manage demanding clients?
Ketchup Marketing Limited: By being upfront and honest at the beginning of projects and agreeing timelines we rarely have "demanding" clients. Should we come across a demanding client we will make addition time and effort to improve the relationship.

WWDC: If a client was trying to decide between a shortlist of web design companies, how would you recommend they go about selecting the right one for them?
Ketchup Marketing Limited: I would look at the company’s own website as well as viewing their portfolio. I would suggest you meet with the team who would be undertaking the work to ensure you felt comfortable with them and their communication style. Should you use Ketchup you will normally meet the team throughout the design process.

WWDC: What computers do you have use in your offices, PCs or Macs?
Ketchup Marketing Limited: Both PC and Mac

WWDC: How was your company name chosen?
Ketchup Marketing Limited: Now that is a story .... contact me to find out

WWDC: If you were to give your clients one tip on how to get the most from their website what would it be?
Ketchup Marketing Limited: Keep an eye on your competitor web sites ... and of course give me a call for a chat, no pressure, no big sale .. just honest advice.
