The big winners In the Klondike Gold Rush in the late 19th centrury weren't the people panning for gold but the people who made the shovels....

With all the doom and gloom around at the moment it seems pretty easy to fall into a mild / severe depression about the future of SME's including all those involved in web 2.0 (however you choose to define it). Its all a bit bleak.

However we are currently producing three videos for clients that are pretty upbeat. Each are for internal comms and are very positive about the 'recession' in that they are looking to stuff the competition by ploughing money into on-line as a resource and move swiftly away from traditional advertising and promotion. The more they advertise in a recession the stronger they feel they will emerge from it.

One voice over script compares the producers of rich media with the makers of the shovels in the California gold rush.
That the digital revolution is in full swing but it's dramatic effect is being masked at the moment by news of redundancies and consequent despondency.
