Online video - What to consider?
31 May 2009
There are a number of considerations when creating video to distribute online
Here are a few tips to encourage you to get the most out of video on the web:
Quality
1. Consider your content. Reherse your content well so that it appears natural when spoken into the camera
2. Make you content interesting, once you take away the novelty of seeing yourself on camera, is the content interesting to a stranger
3. consider the side of the final output and make sure that the recording can be output at the required resolution. What is good for web may not be good for DVD
Output
Once you have created your video you will need to edit it so it is suitable for the medium. Things to considers are
Size of file - if streaming over the web you might want a small video window to decrease file size
Medium - Websites such as Youtube or direct video marketing through services such as vmessage.net can all be considered.
Length of movie - web users will not hang around for the same length of movie as DVD
Bandwidth - consider the cost of serving up multiple video files.
