Get the web working for you

The number of new web channels is increasing all the time, take control.

There are a number of pitfals with marketing your website.

We know the basics are build a website, optimise the content and keep the content fresh. Lets say we are doing that, how can we capitalise on the rest of the web to help users get to your website.

Think of a website as a room in a tower block of offices. No one knows it is there. The only way you can get people to that room is to advertise or to leave free signposts everywhere. Free sign posts, that sounds cool?

Here are a few considerations on enbracing different web mediums/channels so they work for your site:

1. treat all web formats e.g. blogs, twitter, websites, microsites, social networks, mobile content etc as different visions of the same page and so make sure the conent is unique for each.

2. be relevant - make sure you write content that is relevant to your subject matter.

3. keep you extenral content current

4. try and link you external conent together so that the search engines can find all of the content that is directed at your site.

5. make sure the conent is keyword rich while still making sense to an ordinary reader.

If you follow the above principles you should see success in your emarketing strategy.
