”Owner”
WWDC:
Describe your company in 5 words.
Web Site Advantage:
”Out to help you perform”
WWDC:
What's your business philosophy?
Web Site Advantage:
”I'm not one for keeping secrets to keep control. My business is based on helping you learn how website promotion works. Then working as a team to make sure we can get the most out of the effort we put in. A win for me is when I see your business grow.”
WWDC:
Describe your office environment.
Web Site Advantage:
”Corner of my living room :-)
I have a power laptop with a second screen and my smart phone.
Probably one of the weirdest desktop arrangements with clusters of application icons in my vertical taskbar so I can quickly access all the many tools I use.”
WWDC:
Describe how your team interact and work together.
Web Site Advantage:
”I work with other entrepreneurship who are experts in their own field. Designers, Developers, Copywriters. My role is as an advisor to make sure all the work is focused towards providing real results for our clients. Once a website is completed I continue to work with the client to further promote their website.”
WWDC:
What makes you different from other web design companies?
Web Site Advantage:
”I totally focus on the promotion and marketing of websites. I will not advise a client to pay for features or services that I don't think with contribute to their business.”
WWDC:
How do you get the majority of your business?
Web Site Advantage:
”By showing up on Google ;-)”
WWDC:
Describe how you manage projects from the initial client contact to completion and handover.
Web Site Advantage:
”Initial contact is normally over the phone. This is generally followed by a face to face meeting where I continue to educate my client about what I will do and why it should be done.
For new clients I will perform market research and website analysis. Both of these results in reports which become the back bone for future work.
On a month by month basis I then perform promotional work as well as continuous optimisation and enhancements to the website. At the end of each month I provide a report that contains metrics indicating progress and further advice and suggestions for future work .”
WWDC:
What do you think is the most crucial element of creating a good client relationship?
Web Site Advantage:
”I don't like bullshit. Many website development companies seem to tell clients what they want, resulting in websites they don't need.
My role, which matches my personality, is that I will truly advise my clients, even if it may be not what they want to hear.”
WWDC:
How do you manage demanding clients?
Web Site Advantage:
”I work on a fixed monthly fee. At times some clients take up more of my time than others, and in general this evens out.
If a client is requiring me to do lots of little "side jobs" it just means I have less time to do promotional work for them in that month.”
WWDC:
If a client was trying to decide between a shortlist of web design companies, how would you recommend they go about selecting the right one for them?
Web Site Advantage:
”Create a list of the features you want. Then cut it down to the features you need. Then again cut that list down to the features you have to have to attract customers. This last list is what you should get initially developed on a system that has the capabilities to support the need list. This technique can save you a lot of money as well as speed up the development time. I’ve seen a lot of projects fail because they were based on an ever changing want list! ”
WWDC:
Where do you see your company in 10 years time?
Web Site Advantage:
”Too early to say. I'd like to become a respected expert in this new field.”
WWDC:
Where do you see the web design industry in the future?
Web Site Advantage:
”Designers and Developers are needing to learn about making websites that not only look pretty, but also help the business they were built for.
Modern CMS systems are starting to push into the market of the custom development companies. They will need to adapt, while new small CMS based businesses will prosper. To custom develop a system that has any where near the features of these new CMSs, with any sort of stability is now a mega job.”
WWDC:
What computers do you have use in your offices, PCs or Macs?
Web Site Advantage:
”PC”
WWDC:
How was your company name chosen?
Web Site Advantage:
”Keyword Analysis
Trial and error with available domains and business names”
WWDC:
If you were to give your clients one tip on how to get the most from their website what would it be?
Web Site Advantage:
”Make sure your page Titles sell each page”
