”All MD Media Consulting staff and contractors work from home. We believe that this allows us to keep costs down for clients, plus it creates great benefits for our team who can work in a comfortable environment with great job flexibility. We believe that this produces great results.”

”We primarily work through online collaboration- and our great customer portal 'ClientNet' helps to facilitate this process. The great thing about MD Media Consulting is that a client is assigned one developer from the start and gets the personal contact details of that developer. That developer is responsible for the quality control of the project and ensuring that the team delivers high standards.”

What makes you different from other web design companies?

”How we do business- it's all about building that great business relationship with our customers so that we can fully appreciate their business needs and direction. This means that our advice is better and we build products with our clients in mind. Many bigger companies don't take the time to liase with clients- and when clients come to us from other providers, the message is that they were tired of constantly speaking to someone different. Not with MD Media Consulting.”

How do you get the majority of your business?
MD Media Consulting:
”Our business comes from a variety of sources- primary through our website but a considerable amount is from referrals- where our clients have deemed us worth to pass on the message to their friends. When we get a referral, it is a great indication that we must be doing something right.”

Describe how you manage projects from the initial client contact to completion and handover.
MD Media Consulting:
”As stated, the focus is on one developer as the central contact point. The developer puts in the hard yards in project management and dealing with multiple staff resources so that the client doesn't have to. When clients talk to one person through the process, they know that the person understands their needs, so there is less repetition and more time spent actually getting on the job.”

What do you think is the most crucial element of creating a good client relationship?
MD Media Consulting:
”It comes down to delivering on promises and proving yourself to clients. When clients begin to see real results and quality output as promised, then the customer relationship occurs automatically. But it is more than just following great business. It's about thinking with the client and understanding where they are coming from...when we build that understanding we establish a great rapport with the client.”

How do you manage demanding clients?
MD Media Consulting:
”We set out clear boundaries from the very start. When clients get a quote, they know exactly what they will and will not get and in what timeframe, so when they accept a quote, there is already an understanding of what to expect. We have a policy that there is no stupid questions, and try and follow that through at all times. If a client is demanding, we work hard to deliver on what they want- but when it gets excessive, then we try to go back to basics- to work out what their end goals are and how we can best work with them to see the project through. If we are not suited to a client's needs or style then we are not afraid to suggest an alternate provider.”

If a client was trying to decide between a shortlist of web design companies, how would you recommend they go about selecting the right one for them?

”We belive that there are a few factors- past history- look for a proven track record in the portfolio and go beyond that list of testimonials. Ask the important questions. But it mainly comes down to that question of can this organisation deliver my needs...and in what timeframe and what cost?”

”The trend of the industry at this stage seems to be moving away from conventional websites and down the path of the mobile industry. We also believe that future technology will increasingly allow people to build their own sites...leaving website designers to the professional jobs that only someone with years of experience in building websites can do.”

If you were to give your clients one tip on how to get the most from their website what would it be?
MD Media Consulting:
”Content, content, content. At the end of the day, a great website delivers a lot of content that is targetted to the visitor. When we say content, we mean working hard to keep the webiste up-to-date and presenting the message as well as possible. A website can look good, but without the copy, images and multimedia, it will fail to deliver.”
