Contact are right. You need to put together a proper brief and then take a look around. You also need to decide if you need someone local, or whether you'd be happy discussing everything by phone and email.

I'd recommend putting together a brief using one of the many good articles on the Resources & Article section on this site, then send that brief to several companies based on their testimonials.

I would also recommend talking with them either on the phone or in person as part of the relationship you should have with a web company is that you feel you can trust that they will deliver you a value added product to ensure your businesses success.

Many web design companies will be willing to offer annual maintenance including a set number of hours for an annual fee. Research the designers just like you would any other project and I am sure you will find the right designer for you.

Before you approach a web design company you may wish to consider the following:

- What tasks do you need the designer to perform.
- How often should these tasks be performed.
- Collate a list of all software used for your website.
- How many hours a week/month/year do you think your requirements will be.
- What is your maximum budget.

Providing a project brief, however limited is always a good step.

I frequently provide this for the client in the form of a project scope following an in depth conversation with them.

I've also developed e-learning solutions in the UK but there's not much call for the technology in Tenerife so I shelved the projects in case I needed the code again later.

Also, there are a few really good off the shelf packages that can help you with this that you may be intersted in researching...
