Question
Web Design
I am looking for a site to be built that will ultimately have data feeds for quotations from other compaines. I am also looking for a site that I can have different questionaires etc. How easy is this to build and what sort of time scale and cost? The site would need to be able to grow significantly in the future.

Hi Warren
We have created sites like this for insurance brokers and other organisations. If you drop me an email to contact@theisleofwightcomputergeek.co.uk with a bit more detail or give me a call via the telephone number on my website at www.theisleofwightcomputergeek.co.uk I will be able to give you an accurate quote, with timescale for the project.
Hope this helps.

Hi Warren,
It is very challenging to answer the question to how much something like this could cost. There are so many questions that we would need to ask to give you an accurate quotation that it is almost impossible to answer accurately right now.
As an estimate I would put a price of anywhere from around £2000 + VAT to about £15-20K + VAT for both sites. Development time would vary from around 8 weeks to around 16 weeks.
If you would like to receive a detailed quote, please contact me on 020 313 007 84 or by email at seb@dazines.co.uk.
Best Regards,

Hi Warren
As Seb says, this is quite a difficult job to quote on with the information you supply.
The best way to approach these things is to consider what you want to achieve with your site, rather than have a fixed idea of how you want to do it. We often find there is a cheaper way to do it, based on our expertise in user behaviour and web content.
It sounds at least as if you need a content management system with some custom functionality, but this does not have to cost the earth.
Feel free to contact us via our profile or our website and we can discuss your needs.

To build a site that has multiple questionnaires is straightforward.
Supplying the resulting data stream to others could be either simple or complex depending on how and where it is to be delivered.
With regard to cost and timescales both depend on how well developed your ideas are.
If you know where you want to start, then this project should have a timescale of no more than 4 weeks. Cost between £1 and £2k depending on the complexity of your brief.
Please call on 0800 840 4051to discuss further.
Kind regards

Hi Warren,
Welcome to WWDC - you have certainly come to the right place to find a range of capable designers and developers for your project.
One of the main factors that will affect difficulty (and therefore cost) is how the other companies feed the data to you and how you manipulate that data. If they all use a common format (XML for example) and the information correlates between the different feeds, then this is probably very simple.
What may complicate things and increase costs, is different feeds using different formats. If you can obtain a "data sample" of each feed, this will be useful when it comes to getting a quotation.
If the final site (where you want to be in a few years' time) is going to be quite complicated it's often worth drawing-up a detailed specification (or having one done for you) that details how everything will work, with use-case charts etc.
By doing this, you have a final blueprint for the entire build, even if you build it in stages. This means that everything is planned for from day one, and the foundations (database) for the website will be able to support the final framework that's going to be sitting on top. This also ensures that you get what you were expecting.
If you don't plan properly, then you can end up with a much higher final cost.
Good luck with the project, and just shout if we can help further.

There are a lot of variables in your question, so that even to give a ballpark estimate would be difficult. The best thing to do is draft a proper bief (a designer can help you do this) and then send it to a few companies and see what response you get.
We at Pierce Online MEdia can assist you with this if you wish.

Hi Warren
We have created similar sites to this with great results.
I would estimate you would be looking at around £1500 upwards depending on the details.
Do you have a brief you can send us?
Thanks
