The trouble with outsourcing web design to India without any experience yourself is quality control. There are a few accreditations and standards but even we do not adhere to them as they are always behind the technology!

You really need a UK based Company/person to help you with project management, or to partner you with such a project. The main issue with India is grammar.

You wish to setup a company to provide a service that you admittedly know nothing about. I think your first task is to educate yourself on the design process and to get a basic understanding of the technology.

Hi there! I am totally agree with FREQUENCY DESIGN that you should first get some knowledge about Web designing. We dont say that u become a master in web designing at least know ABC of that. If you dont want to waste money or time in learning, just go to Google and get basic knowledge.

I have seen big enterprise and small business projects fail with outsourcing from India for two main reasons:

1. Lack of quality control and project management skills due to insufficient knowledge and / or involvement from businesses that get outsourcing services in India; This point very much applies to you as you stated that you don

Outsourcing to India can be troublesome especially as you dont have face to face contact with any particular individual, you are better off with a local uk company who speaks the lingo, and can advise and help you with your web design.

I would think long and hard about doing this,

I would probably compare it to me starting a building company and hiring only polish people.....
I wouldn't be able to understand them and they won't be able to understand me (and I don't mean because outsourcing to India no one speaks English) I mean because I wouldn't have a clue what is going on!!!

Hi

I'd get a bit of experience with web designers within the UK before you look to outsource this to India. Especially if, as you say, you don't anything about how to design websites.

Good communication is crucial in web design projects and you'd not only have to deal with the problems that often occur due to outsourcing but if you don't speak the 'technical' language, you could be prone to abuse or not very cost-effective web development.

I have had to take on a lot of work recently where people have had sites created through outsourcing in India and the outcome hasnt been up to standard.

I think you should learn about the industry yourself first before you even think of outsourcing something you dont understand.

If you are planning to start a web designing company first choose the place. Setup a office & Website. Analysis the requirement of the place & Strength of the Near by web designing company. Try to get high level business people for website. Give this order to best opposite company as reseller. and get commission. like this do 2-3 Sites in your banner. if have a enough staff designer you clients site yourself.

You should contact them and ask about the team size, office locations, some major clients and projects. You should prefer a business who is already working with another web design company as an outsourcing partner and verify this on a phone call.

As for team size, its a little difficult to verify.

Office Location, you can try to figure out if this is a residential address or commercial address by locating this on Google Maps or by making a few searches to find if the place is more known for homes or offices. This can also give you hints about being a legitimate business or freelancer.
