Hi Robert

We have a number of sites that include things like comments, reviews and blogs.

My personal recommendation to clients is that they spend a little time each month updating these, especially with blogs.

Also, we have a number of clients who use social networking sites such as Facebook and we also recommend they update these regularly, even taking a feed and using that on their website and it pays dividends.

I have one client in particular who was against this for some time and within a month of the Facebook page being available and linked to their website they saw tangible results, customers paying money for their services, as a direct result of this.

This really depends on your type of blog and your type of visitors. Facebook and Twitter and great and can be easily synced up so that one updates the other. Take a look at the success of others to build guidelines and figure out ideas for yourself. Offering exclusives in a great way to build up fans on Facebook and your blog. Find a site to affiliate with that offers discounts on referrals so you can make offers from yourself as well as affiliates. For example, I occasionally offer discounts and coupons for "liking" me on Facebook. I also am an affiliate with HostGator.com. I love their hosting and occasionally tweet discount codes.

If you offer something people want (be it tangible or not), they will come. Your social sites and blog will both help each other and combine to help you.
