BIGCommerce is just one of many different ways to put a business on-line. Have you checked out Volusion? They were voted No.1 for e-commerce 2011. (Just one of many other possibilities). We can also design in BIGCommerce too but we would make sure that the software used would have all the features you need for your project...

Sometimes it can be a bit daunting on a large scale project and sounds like you need some confidence in a good designer.

Unfortunately, there are web designers, and web design agencies that "just want your money". My advice is simple, stay well clear of these individuals/companies at all cost.

Web Design is an on-going process, a factor that many web designers do not grasp. Designing eCommerce based websites is and always will be, an on-going process that requires an on-going relationship between the client and the design company.

Thanks for posting this opportunity on WWDC. As previously said WWDC is a great place to start looking for a web designer as there are a wide variety of which some specialise in key areas. You can also get a "feel" for the company by reading their reviews and answers to their interview as well as look at their portfolio and their own website.

I would recommend taking a look at the ever popular Virtuemart with Joomla! for as it is used by a wide variety of eCommerce sites and has a vast range of functionality that I believe would meet your current requirements as well as your future ones.

We have just completed our recent eConmerce site for www.eazyblinds.co.uk and full ownership has been given to the client as well as a full CMS system so they can make their own changes.
