e-commerce?
i want to sell car parts online but dont want to put a catalogue online, i was thinking more of a form based website where users fill in what car parts they want and details of their car, any ideas? solutions? or examples?

That sounds a lot like an enquiry form as opposed to an ecommerce site to me. Have you seen a similar system used on any other websites?

Hi Sach

I agree with Firstfound, it sounds like you need some sort of an enquiry form (or more likely a quote form) that takes into consideration the various parts that a person could need.

Trying to get the right balance between how many fields you request and how many a user would be willing to fill in will determine how many people actually fill it out.

Also you have to consider that it may be quicker for them to pick up a phone and ask you about a part, so would that be an option you could give them.

Can you also give them a guaranteed response time as that may also increase enquiries and potentially sales.

Hope that helps.

Contact Multimedia is absolutely right - you're looking for a website which showcases the services you offer and allow visitors to fill in a form, specifying what they want and then receive a tailored quote from yourself.

Hi Sach

What you are proposing is more of a contact form than an online shop, which will actually keep your costs down. You can still embed a payment system into your site, so that you can be paid before despatch, and you could also link to ebay for further coverage.

Hi Sach

I agree with FirstFound, it sounds more like an enquiry form which any good company will be able to do.

We could put together a completely custom solution for whatever you needed.

Many thanks

Hi Sach

A contact form would be the solution, It could be created with a number of pull down menus eg Make, Model, Year. This would decrease the time spent filling in the form and result in you receiving a more accurate description of the required part.

It would also need to contain text boxes for details such as name address etc.

This would be quite easy to produce.
